Electrical Rewiring

Did you know that even modern electrical cable has a 30 year life span?

Electrical rewiring involves the replacement of old, dangerous or non-compliant electrical equipment i.e. cables, fittings, distribution boards (fuse boxes).

The life expectancy of electric wiring can vary, this depends on the type of wiring used and how it has been used, unlike the yearly MOT for your car, the life of an installation is 30 years and is easy to forget that wires will need replacing.

It is recommended by the IEE (Institute of Electrical Engineers) that any installation over 30 years old will need upgrading and possibly rewiring to meet current regulations and most importantly, safety standards. In addition when the wiring was installed it is unlikely to meet the demand of electrical appliances that you have today.

If you are looking for an electrician to rewire your electrics, contact S J Reed and Son Electrical Engineers today.

There are two types of electrical rewiring:

Full Rewire

A full rewire involves replacing all cables, fittings and distribution equipment. Wires and cables can be completely hidden in the walls or where a surface rewire occurs mini trunking can be used to hide the cables and wires.

Part Rewire

An update of the fuse boxes, fittings or replacement of a section of cables are classed as a part rewire.

S J Reed and Son Electrical Engineers have experience in all areas of electrical rewiring and have been providing electrical services to our clients for over 40 years throughout Petersfield and the surrounding areas.
