How Do I Book a PAT Test?

To help us with your enquiry please let us know your location, approximate number of appliances that will need testing and whether we have previously tested your premises.

What is defined as a Portable Electrical Appliances?

Any electrical equipment connected to a 240/110 volt supply socket is classified as a Portable Electrical Appliances.

By law any appliances that can be used by your employees, customers or the public must be maintained in a safe condition and tested on a yearly basis.

What are examples of Portable Electrical Appliances?

Portable Electrical Appliances include:

  • Computers/ Laptops/ Tablets and their accessories,
  • Photocopiers,
  • Heaters,
  • Televisions and DVD players,
  • Hairdryers,
  • Vacuum Cleaners,
  • Electrical Handtools (DIY Tools),
  • Kettles,
  • Fans,
  • Fridge/freezers,
  • Lamps and extension leads.

Does my premises require PAT testing?

If you own, manage or work in any of the environments below, your premises will require annual PAT testing:

  • Offices,
  • Hotels, Hostels, Guest Houses and Public Accommodation,
  • Schools and Nurseries,
  • Factories,
  • Pubs, Bars and Restaurants.


By law all electrical portable appliances need to be maintained and in a good safe working order.

What happens if an appliance fails a PAT Testing?

We can fix most minor faults before the appliance has been tested, e.g. incorrect fuse sizes or loose wiring connections. If there is a serious fault and your appliance fails, our engineers will be able to advise you on the best course of action.

Will I receive a Certificate on completion of PAT Testing?

All your appliances that have passed will be labelled, in addition a certificate and your PAT test results will be presented to you on completion.

I am very busy will there be much disturbance to my working day?
